By far my biggest regret is not telling a girl I had serious feelings for in our first year at university that I wanted her. Fears of losing our friendship (thinking she didnt feel the same), not picking up signals, timing etc. The inexperience of youth. I changed universities and we lost touch over the years. Its now been 14 years.

A couple of days ago we got in touch. Shes now married, so am I, and we’re both very happy. But it turns out she felt the same at the time. Just cant help but wonder what if I had taken the chance.

  1. You are both different people than you were 14 years ago. You have both moved on and found partners that make you happy. Don’t waste your time thinking about what could have been and living in the past. The fantasy is just that, a fantasy. The reality is that you found real love in your wife and have committed your heart to her. She has done the same with her husband. Focus on your spouse, give your wife the love and attention she deserves, don’t rob her of your thoughts by focusing them on this other woman. The grass is never greener on the other side and life is always going to be full of could have beens, but a real and loving marriage is irreplaceable.
