SECRET REGRET OF THE DAY: February 9, 2017

My biggest regret is not learning how to say no to people. I have always been someone who wants to please everyone around them. I have put myself in an unhealthy state both physically and mentally to help and please others.

  1. On a positive note, you realise you ARE a people pleaser. Many of us are. Look around you: there are many who hesitate not a jot to say to you: ‘can’t’ or ‘sorry, would love to, but…’ or, simply, ‘no!’. From my experience, these people value themselves enough to be selfish on occasion and, as a result, are more respected. That’s not to say you don’t/can’t/won’t help others, you just need to find a balance that makes YOU happy. I found my balance in simple, incremental steps (being strong enough to refuse babysitting requests, for instance. Not Earth shattering, but for me it was a start. I learned that you don’t have to offer an excuse for not giving up your time for free, you can simply politely refuse). It can be done! Good luck.

  2. people are selfish…. get used to it. I am the same and can relate…it only becomes more and more disheartening that the majority of the human race are much more insensitive and self serving…adjust before u are left with nothing

    it WILL
